The JSerra Girls Tennis team faced a simple scenario when they took the court Friday afternoon at the Anaheim Tennis Center for their Trinity League tie-breaker match with the Orange Lutheran Lancers.
A victory would officially clinch third place in league and a trip to the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.
A loss would bring their season to a close.
The Lions put forth a performance that yielded the scenario, as they defeated the Lancers 11-7.
JSerra opened league play this season with a 12-6 home victory over the Lancers in late September, but in their rematch earlier this month, the Lancers evened the season score with an 11-7 triumph.
Both teams finished with identical 3-5 league records that left them tied for third place and set up their third encounter for an automatic postseason trip.
Senior Jazmine Aftabi and sophomore Ellie Gregor-Orr were undefeated in double action, while the duo of junior Sophia Staff and sophomore Sophia Stewart knocked off the Lancers' top double tandem 6-4.
Sophomore Scarlett Vukich, junior Neeka Barkhoarder, and freshman Noami Clarke also won two singles sets in the triumph.
JSerra will officially learn their first playoff opponent in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs on Monday when team brackets are officially released.
