The start of Trinity League play proved to be just the needed elixir that the JSerra Girls Tennis team needed to taste victory.
Sophomore Scarlett Vukich swept three singles sets, while the doubles team of sophomore Ellie Gregor-Orr and senior Jazmine Aftabi also swept three doubles sets to help propel the Lions to a 12-6 triumph over Orange Lutheran Thursday afternoon at JSerra High.
With the win, the Lions (3-5, 1-0) snapped a three-match losing streak.
Freshman Naomi Clarke also tallied two winning singles sets, while the duo junior Kylie and freshman Aerin Fraize won two singles sets for JSerra.
Also producing key triumphs for the Lions were the sophomore doubles pairing of Isabella Aftabi and Sophia Stewart (defeating Orange Lutheran's top doubles pairing), and junior Sophia Staff in singles (winning key games against the Lancers No. 2 and No. 3 lines.)
"I think we just found our line 3 doubles team," Lions coach Kirk Orahood said. "Sophia Staff played above her potential today and I think that will continue to be the case."
