A season of tremendous accomplishment for the JSerra Girls Basketball team came to a close on Thursday night, as the Lions fell to the Harvard Westlake Wolverines 70-42 in the 2nd round of the CIF Division 2 State Championship at Harvard-Westlake High.
JSerra, which didn't win a game last year, finishes this season with a record of 24-10 and the first CIF-SS title in school history.
"The girls had a phenomenal season, played their hearts out, and there is no reason for us to hang our heads," Lions head coach Chyanne Butler said. "I'm already looking forward to next season."
The Wolverines were the aggressors early and often in the contest, limiting the Lions' ability to get good looks at the basket.
Harvard-Westlake built a 12-point lead after the first quarter that grew to a 19-point advantage at halftime.
Freshman Addie Nolan played a stellar game for the Lions, as she scored a team-high 19 points.
Nolan, who connected on 3-of-6 from the three-point line and 8-of-10 from the free throw line, also had four rebounds and two steals.
Freshman Shae Talleur scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and grabbed five rebounds.
