The JSerra Swimming team showed many positive signs in their season debut competition at the Capo Relays at Capistrano Valley High.
Both the Lions' Boys and Girls teams finished in the top-10, with the boys placing fifth and the girls placing sixth amongst 15 teams competing.
Junior Taylor Bell produced one of the best individual 100 free times in school history during the 400m free relay, as Bell clocked a split of 47.13.
That time is the ninth fastest in school history.
His 22.01 50m split during his 100m free ranks 11th all-time in school history.
Bell, fellow juniors Dalton Haggard (50.77) and Luke Stark (53.30), along with freshman Joseph Wraith (52.18) combined to finish fifth in a time of 3:23.38, a CIF consideration time.
On the girls side, freshman Claire Wilson clocked a CIF consideration time of 54.14 in her 100m split of the 400m free relay.
Wilson teamed with sophomore Juliette Ey (60.15), junior Elle Treska (55.40), and junior Karissa Hughes (60.00) to lead the Lions to a fourth-place clocking of 3:49.69.
"We had a good showing for the first competition of the season," Lions coach Kevin Clements said. "Many of our returning athletes achieved personal bests or were just off their times from the end of last year."
"It's a positive start for our team."
